“Margot and Peter, you really do it right!”

Our Green Practices

We at Little Lakes Inn & Healing Center do our very best to leave our little piece of the world at least as good as, if not better than, we found it. Here are several areas we pay particular attention to:

  • Waste Practices:We recycle all glass, plastic, and metal, and compost our kitchen and yard waste. We have re-used and re-purposed all sorts of construction materials, including original pine floors and plaster walls.
  • Water Conservation:Every appliance and plumbing fixture is new and highly efficient. We only wash linens and towels as our guests require.
  • Energy Conservation:During restoration, we replaced all the leaky windows with double-paned, insulated units. We added insulated to the entire house (there wasn't any!), hiring a local company to spray soy-based foam insulation into the outside walls, and selected recycled blue-jean insulation for the ceilings. We installed a new high-efficiency furnace and water heaters, and switched to natural gas. There are separate thermostats in each suite to further reduce heating and cooling usage.

Fostering Total Wellbeing

Because we are also concerned with the health and wellbeing of every guest, our culinary staff prepares all meals using local and organic ingredients whenever possible. To keep our Little Lakes Inn clean and cozy, our housekeeping staff uses all natural cleaners and makes up the beds with 100% cotton or bamboo blend linens.
