January Events

January 13, 20         Chef’s Table: Ultimate Couples Class

These classes at New York Wine & Culinary Center are designed to be fun, relaxing and an escape from the daily grind. They are great way to learn some basic cooking techniques while enjoying your family and friends in our Hands-On Kitchen. The Chefs will have the dessert pre-made and demonstrate and prepare the salad course for the class, then Chef Eric will lead the class through the preparation of appetizer, side dishes and three entrées. The main menu items will be prepared by participants working together at each of the cooking islands in the teaching kitchen. Participants will be served a tasting portion of all the entrées and a New York State wine will be served with the meal. No one will leave hungry! These classes are very popular and a great way to meet new friends. Register early!!

January 18-20         Pasta & Wine Weekend

Enjoy a self-guided tour around beautiful Seneca Lake as you sample delicious pasta-themed dishes paired with award-winning wines at over 30 participating wineries. Pick up your gift item at your chosen starting winery then start sampling! Visit Seneca Lake Wine Trail for details and ticket information.


February Events

February 9             Vintage Vines & Valentines

Naples is warming up the chilly month of February with an event as sweet and quirky as the town itself! Ride the Old-World breeze through the historic town, where romance has shrugged off the usual plastic trappings and found a a uniquely Finger Lakes form! Celebrate your love on February 9th with special events, discounts and deals at 12 local vendors.

February 4             Sweetheart Carriage Ride

Give your sweetheart a gift he or she will long remember! You will feel as if you have stepped back in time as you cozy up with your sweetheart in an antique sleigh. (It could be sleigh or carriage depending on weather.) After your 20 minute ride on Granger's historic 12-acre site, stop in the Law Office to warm up and enjoy a host of hot beverages and goodies. our gift includes: 20-minute ride, long-stem sweetheart rose, delicious chocolate candy and a framed 4x6 photo. March Events

March 1, 2, 3          Annual Orchid Show

Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park , located at 151 Charlotte Street in Canandaigua, NY, is one of America’s longest surviving estates from the Victorian Era. The elegant Queen Anne-style mansion was built in 1887 by New York City financier Frederick Ferris Thompson, and his wife, Mary Clark Thompson, as a summer home. Between 1901-1920, the widowed Mrs. Thompson and her staff created the nine formal gardens seen today.

March 16 & 17,      Wohlschlegels Naples Maple Farm Pancake Breakfast
23 & 24

Wohlschlegels Naples Maple Farm host’s a pancake breakfast along with their pure maple syrup. Breakfast features “all you can eat” buttermilk pancakes with sausage, coffee, milk or juice. Also enjoy samples of maple syrup, maple cream spread and free activities for your family, including: tours of the maple syrup process and woods walks through the sugarbush.


April Events

April 25,26,27         Rochester International Film Festival

The Rochester International Film Festival, the world's oldest continuously-held short film festival, has been produced each year since 1959 by Movies on a Shoestring, Inc. Each festival includes a wide variety of narrative films, documentaries, and animations submitted by independent filmmakers from all parts of the world.

April 26,27,28         21st Annual Wine & Herb Festival

Build your garden this spring by attending our Wine & Herb Festival and filling your garden with herbs and veggies. Follow along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail and you'll receive a souvenir wine glass, potted herb or veggie plants from Schaefer Gardens at each winery, a plant carrier, plus recipe cards. As you savor herb prepared cuisine, sip fine wines, and gather recipes so that you can experience the event all over again at home. Complete Wine Trail packages are available that include accommodation, transportation and event tickets.


May Events

May 10 - 18            Lilac Festival

The only 10-day free festival of its kind in North America. It is inspired by a magnificent lilac collection at Highland Park that plays host to over 500 varieties of lilacs on more than 1,200 bushes. What was first planted in 1892 by horticulturist John Dunbar has turned into the world?s largest lilac collection that even Martha Stewart has enjoyed when she visited the festival in 2007. This event is perfect for all ages and was even voted as a top 100 event by the American Bus Association for 2010.

May 18                   Genesee Country Village & Museum Military Heritage Day

This brand new event will showcase the importance of the military in the lives of western New Yorkers from the birth of our nation through the modern day. The focus of the day will be showing the public how military technology has evolved since the time of the American Revolution. View demonstrations of patriotic music, static displays of military vehicles, uniforms, equipment, and collectibles spanning our region's 225+ year history. On hand will be some of the area's leading experts on military history and the involvement of western New Yorkers in America's wars.


June Events

June 5 - 9             Finger Lakes Plein Air Festival

The Plein Air Festival is the first of its kind in NYS. Artists will work in various painting media on location in and around Canandaigua throughout the weekend painting scenes and vistas, city streets, historic structures, farm and vineyard vistas. While the artists are busy painting, there will be family events, live music, food, art exhibits and educational programs on Saturday. Young and old alike can transform the downtown sidewalks into works of art using colored chalks in the Chalk It Up...Downtown Event. Judging, exhibition, awards and sale of artists' work will take place on Sunday.

June 13 - 23           Bristol Valley Theater: The Marvelous Wonderettes

Upstate New York's premiere professional theater presents a bubble gum-popping, cotton-candy colored, non-stop pop musical blast from the past! Travel to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where you?ll meet the Wonderettes: four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts and voices to match. Follow their wise-cracking antics from prom through their ten-year reunion, sprinkled with favorite songs from the '50s and '60s including Lollipop, It's My Party, Leader of the Pack, and more.

June 15 - 24           Rochester Real Beer Week

The Rochester Real Beer Week will consist of a week-long series of craft beer related events including tastings, food and beer pairings and dinners, socials, concerts, and craft beer launches. The All-Local Tap Takeover at Sticky Lips Juke Joint and the Rochester Real Beer Expo 2012 will start the week, and The Old Toad's Cask Ale Festival and Lovin' Cup's Real 5K and Concert Finale conclude the week.

June 8 & 9             Barbecue at the Wineries I & II
22 & 23

Explore the Keuka Lake Wine Trail and taste delicious barbecue and grilled foods, this year prepared creatively with the award-winning flavors of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que sauces, rubs, and marinades. From Riesling to Cabernet Franc, join us for the 11th year of this popular event to have fun exploring how well wine can pair with mouth-watering barbecue and summer side dishes. Early summer is a beautiful time to visit Keuka Lake and enjoy each of the winery's own spectacular views.


July Events

July 12 – 14            Geneseo Air Show

The 1941 Historical Aircraft Group (HAG) is a living museum group dedicated to preserving and teaching aviation history. Their primary focus is on aircraft of the World War II and Korean War eras, as well as the recognition of all United States Military personnel for their service and sacrifice. The Geneseo Show is an event that brings the history of aviation alive. Displayed aircraft are accessible, most with pilots and owners standing by to talk about their planes. Re-enactors are mixed throughout the display area, adding to the excitement and thrill of “The Greatest Show on Turf” experience.

July 12, 13, 16–20   Hill Cumorah Pageant

Experience the 75th Anniversary of one of the world's great outdoor theatrical productions. Each July, seven evening performances are presented on the beautiful Cumorah hillside next to the Hill Cumorah Visitors' Center. A beautiful story on an enormous 10-level stage, twelve-tower lighting, state-of-the-art sound system, Hollywood special effects,and a costumed cast of over 650 provide a truly spectacular show.

July 27 - 28             Waterfront Art Festival at Kershaw Park

The Waterfront Art Festival is a juried fine art and crafts festival. It's held in Kershaw Park on Lake Shore Drive in Canandaigua New York. This puts the festival right on the north shore of beautiful Canandaigua Lake. Come join us for a beautiful day in the park with your friends and family ! Art and craft exhibits, demonstrations, food, and entertainment.


August Events

August 7 - 10           Pageant of Steam

53rd Annual display of antique farm equipment dating back to early 1900's, parades, tractor pulls, live music, displays, demonstrations, food. The New York Steam Engine Association (NYSEA) was formed in Canandaigua, New York in 1960 to promote and encourage interest in the operation, ownership, and preservation of antique vehicles powered by steam or otherwise. “Demonstrating the past to educate the future.”

August 9               Gardens: Moonlight Stroll Music Series

Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park is a 50-acre historic estate featuring 9 formal gardens, a Lord and Burnham greenhouse complex and an 1887 Queen Anne-style 40-room mansion. Also on the grounds is the Finger Lakes Wine Center, featuring a variety of wines from the Finger Lakes. Live music in gardens aglow with light. Enjoy wine by the glass, refreshments, or take a carriage ride. Bring your lawn chair or blanket to sit back and enjoy the music. Music by Bat McGrath Special Appearance.

August 10 - 11        Finger Lakes Riesling Festival

Area wineries, restaurants, artists, and musicians join together for a weekend-long celebration of all things that make the Finger Lakes region amazing. Featuring wine tasting, live music, locally grown foods, unique artwork and hand crafts, family activities, and more—so much that it’s literally “a mile of family fun” in the Finger Lakes! Free admission.


September Events

Labor Day Weekend
September               Captain Redbeard's Feast

Captain Redbeard and his hungry rouge pirates will return Labor Day weekend to Honeoye Lake. They have traveled for centuries looking for Pirate Cove and once found, they have charted its location as a port of call when sailing these seas. He and his krewe will enjoy live music with a reggae/Caribbean and folk music flair, a marketplace where starving pirates and vendors sell and trade their wares, services, vittles, and grog. Don't forget Parrot Bay for the wee buccaneers, plus plenty of pirate games and entertainment.

Labor Day Weekend
September               New York State Festival of Balloons

The beauty of an early morning flight is breathtaking as balloons gracefully float over our valley. The thrill of a mass evening launch is a real crowd pleaser. For those passengers taking their first flight, wonderful thoughts and memories will long endure. The goal of the festival is to provide entertainment and enjoyment to our spectators, bring visitors to our community, and share our profits with local charities. Even though we are one of the largest events of this type, The New York Festival of Balloons, is a great deal more than hot air balloons. Take a look at our SCHEDULE OF EVENTS for this coming Labor Day Weekend and you will agree that there is something for everyone all weekend long at the N.Y.S.F.O.B.

September 15          Purple Foot Festival

Celebrate the harvest season with grape stomping, vineyard hayrides, wine tasting, seminars, Italian dance classes, vendors, food & live entertainment. From vineyard to glass, this winery offers tours tastings, and a wine gift shop year-round. The Fiori Ice Wine has been voted the World's Best Dessert Wine. The winery features banquet facilities and is perfect for weddings and special events. Come to Casa Larga to experience an Italian way of life.

September 14           Springwater Fiddlers Fair & Craftshow

The Fiddlers Fair will be an all-day musical event for the whole family. Whether you prefer to sit and enjoy the music playing on stage, or hike surrounding scenic trails to experience "fiddling-in-the woods", we guarantee an eclectic music mix. You can also expect some lively jam sessions that will get your feet stomping and hands clapping! The Crafters are from within a 20 mile radius of Springwater and offer items found only in our area. This juried show is a diversified and eclectic mix of Folk Art Crafts, Basketry, Pottery, Textile/Fiber, Glass, Wood, Jewelry, Leatherwork, Metal/Stone and Mixed Media.

September 28 - 29    Naples Grape Festival

Since 1961, the grape festival is held every September in our valley to celebrate the areas grape harvest, talented artisans, wine makers, plus local and regional music and cuisine. Enjoy wine, food, arts, crafts, and live music. Bake a pie for the World's Greatest Grape Pie Contest and sample every thing "grape" that our valley has to offer.


October Events

October 5,6,7         Bristol Mountain Sky Rides

Ride the Comet Express chairlift to the summit of Bristol Mountain for a tranquil 15-20 minute ride providing breathtaking views of the Bristol Hills and the valley below. This is truly a unique opportunity for all ages to view Mother Nature at her best. On a clear day, a glimpse of Canandaigua Lake is visible from the summit.


October 5 & 6        Cohocton Fall Foliage Festival

Village-wide weekend of activities include a parade, fireworks, soccer games, arts, crafts, antique and flea market, karaoke contest, 5K run, candy run for kids, bake sale, spaghetti dinner, chicken barbecue, pancake breakfast, live entertainment.

October 13             Historic walk in Victor and bike the Auburn Trail

Victor Hiking Trails leads hikes in some of the prettiest spots in the area - great for families! Most hikes are relatively easy and take 2-4 hours. Always bring a bag lunch or snack and something to drink. Dress for the weather - we rarely cancel due to inclement weather.


November Events

November 22 - 24   Deck The Halls Weekend on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail

Visit over 30 wineries, decorated for the holiday season, for a weekend of fun and festivities while sampling holiday wines and food tastings. Each ticket includes a grapevine wreath and a recipe book, to be picked up at your starting winery. Receive a food and wine pairing tasting at each participating winery. Enjoy decorating your Christmas wreath with a unique ornament from each winery you visit. With the recipe book, you will be able to recreate the delectable wine & food combinations at home to introduce your friends and family to the pairings you most enjoyed!


December Events

December 1 - 31     George Eastman House: Sweet Creations Gingerbread Display

A popular holiday tradition! George Eastman House in Rochester, N.Y., invites young and old to enjoy a feast for the eyes and nose, a display of 70 cleverly designed gingerbread houses, on view throughout the historic house. The Sweet Creations: Gingerbread House Display exhibit features clever confections from professional bakers, families, and community groups. In addition, the National Historic Landmark house is elaborately decorated for the holidays.

December 4            The Crepe Experience

Bring your family and friends for an educational, hands-on demonstration featuring Simply Crepes owner Pierre Heroux. Learn the history of crepes, prepare the basic crepe (yes, you will make a crepe!), and watch a demonstration of how to make a seasonal entree and dessert crepe. Then relax and enjoy your dinner & dessert. Delicious fun for a couple, a family, or a girls night out!
